Functional Medicine

Functional Medicine is an effective way to evaluate patients using diagnostic testing in order to achieve optimal health.

Whereas typical western medicine uses standard laboratory testing to diagnose disease, functional medicine uses tightened parameters on lab testing to identify patterns as well as developing issues in the human body. This allows the patient to take a proactive approach in managing their health and wellness while still satisfying the western medicine standard of care.

While it is important to realize that doctors need to focus on treating patients and not numbers on a laboratory test, functional medicine can effectively be used in order to objectively assess patient progress on values that reflect a specific period of time in order to determine the efficacy of treatment put forth, as well monitor the patient for when western medical intervention may be necessary.
